Byron Payne returns to Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series competition this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with Next Generation Motorsports.
Payne will compete in the ST-class with the Next Generation Motorsports team, driving the #129 BMW 330 with teammate VJ Mirzyian in the 2.5 hour event. This will be a familiar alliance for Payne as he ran with the NGM team in 2008 at Watkins Glen, bringing home a 13th place finish. The Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series hits the track Saturday, May 17th at 4:00pm (EST), at the famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, in beautiful Monterey, CA.
Byron Payne is a professional driver with many years of experience. Byron has spent the last several years as a professional driver and instructor for various racing-promotion events, manufacturers, hot-lap events, and driving schools. Byron’s racing resume includes Formula Atlantic, Formula Ford, Formula Super Vee, Formula British Vauxhall Lotus, Formula 3 Test Driver, Indy Lights, shifter karts in Russia, The Jim Russell Scholarship Winner, and was named Formula Super Vee Rookie of the Year!
