Professional driver Byron Payne returns to GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge competition for the upcoming Super Weekend held in conjunction with NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 27th.   Payne returns to the GRAND-AM paddock after a year hiatus after running selected CTSCC  events in 2008-2010.  Byron will campaign the #68 Capaldi Racing/Sikku Ford Mustang Boss 302R GT in memory of his late racing manager and heir to Jack Daniels Whiskey Garvin Brown, who passed away in late 2010.  Payne will pilot the #68 Capaldi Racing Mustang in the GS-Class of the CTSCC with co-driver Tony Buffomante.

Signing with Capaldi Racing for this one-off effort, Byron is proud to return to Indy.
“Indy is a special place to me.  Coming up short on running the Indy 500 early in my career, I’ve always had some unfinished business at this place.  To represent Garvin Brown at Indy one more time, after all he did for me and my career means a lot also.  Once it was announced for the 2012 GRAND-AM schedule, I immediately began to make plans.”

With a busy schedule during the Super Weekend during the end of July, GRAND-AM has scheduled a two-day testing event at The Speedway coming up July 6-7, which Payne will attend in preparation for the 2.5-hour race.

Byron welcomes SikkU and Team Fella, as partners and the campaign will be in memory of the late heir to Jack Daniels Whiskey Garvin Brown.

The green flag for Round-8 of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge drops at 1:00 (ET) on Friday, July 27.
